Hi everybody,
I play (clarinet, ofcourse...) in a group of amateurs with various instruments, most of them are pretty advanced.
I am familiar with most of the classical chamber music for clarinet written by Mozart, Beethoven, Shumann, Bruch & Brahms; played also Milhaud suite
I looks for new material -
when I check Van Cott site, I see lots of names, unfamiliar to me.
Can anyone recommend specific modern composers, or pieces, from his / her experience?
I already bought some totally unfamiliar material, and got very disapointed - want to do better this time!
I need especially material for clarinet + flute, and optionally piano
... I guess I am not the first to ask this question - is there some on-going discussion about it?

One piece that occurs to me for the clarinet/flute/piano combination is the Shostakovich waltzes. They are quite tuneful and not that difficult.
Other than that, is there some particular style of modern music that you like? What was it that disappointed you about the the pieces you bought and didn't like?
Vanessa.

I liked Milhaud (suite, and also Scaramouche),
I liked Jacob (duet for clarinet & viola, mini conrecto...)
I liked "Three American miniatures" by John Rutter - a bit too light but OK
I like Prokofieff "Hebrew Theams",
I like french composers
I did not like Clare Grundman "Waltz and Interlude" - a bit boaring,
and "Passages 111" by Mary Jeanne van Appledorn - well, did not insist trying...
That's it. I will look for the Shostakovich waltzes. They sound nice.
