I, too, have gotten a little tired of endlessly reading about "Forest" Stadler & Gene Simmons tongue (just a couple of many) at the end of otherwise very well-tended and informational postings. Com'mon now, you must agree, even the best joke bcomes ho-hum with the audience after numerous tellings--ex. Henny Youngman, "Take my wife......PLEASE".
Anyone else feel this way--or is it just crabby ole me this AM???
BTW, Ed, Mozart wasn't always "little"--he did grow up and write lots of other music........:>)

Sigh. On the good news, since it's a "signature line", whenever I figure out what to change it to next will change all of my posts. Past and present. So it'll be as though it never existed. just gotta figure out what to change it to. Myspace, or facebook . . . .

I've never been able to listen to Ed's little Mozart on his site. It opens up in Quick time but never starts.

Works fine here - when you actually press the "Start" button. (no autorun)

Eventually, the plan is to have some sort of little website of my own where I'll have clips of myself playing. Just to have it. And I'll put THAT website in my sig. But that's at least a year off.

I had same problem with trying to use Quicktime in my web browser, probably because the recording is stored in an enormous (87 MB) AIFF file. What I resorted to was downloading the file to my hard drive (right click the link and select "Save Target As...") and then manually playing it off the hard drive with Quicktime.
Actually, with Ed's permission, I'd be happy to convert the recording into an MP3 he could put on his website in addition to the AIFF file. The advantage of having an MP3 version is that the MP3 file would be a small fraction of the original size and would also be playable in Windows Media Player.

Interesting thoughts. I have always wondered why someone lists their reed, ligature, instrument brand, etc. Is there some affirmation/accolade of sorts that goes with listing certain items?

I play on Buffet Festival Bb with Zinner grenadilla and cocobollo barrels,Buffet R-13 Prestige in A with Chadash barrel. Gennusa Excellente mouthpiece 1.04mm and Glotin GIII #3.5 reeds with BG Traditional Gold plate ligature. I store my clarinets in Black double BAM trecking case. I use K and M clarinet stand,K and M Black sheet stand and Manhasset Voyager stand for carrying with me on a trip. I use BG swabs,Doctors Slick cork greece,Doctors cork life, Wiha pocket screwer, Gordier reed trimmer,ATG reed finishing system,Steuer 12 reed leather reed case and Doctors desiccant canisters and humidity indicator strip.

the idea with adding ones equipment was to not need to explain what one is playing when discussing. a couple of years ago a lot of people did it, but i guess i havent been very up to date on this fashion. :P
hope you like my new one without equipment and stuff.
about signs:
personally i think its a good thing to be able to know what the one i am talking to is playing. and that is also one of the subjects when i talk to woodwindplayers all the time. its just fun to know. dont you think?
but i agree, its rather enoying to read these signs with slogans or other non-saying stuff.
but to complain about in a post.... :S

but
i did put my info there because that is the kind of info i would like to read about others, and i think most geeks agree.
when talking to a clarinetist, you most likely aint very intrested in knowing what car they own, or what color their house is painted. its knowing their equipment that's funny.
at least for me its not a matter of prestigue.(i know you didnt write that. others did. dont remember who.) only a way of deffining who the people around you are.
i agree that the info is irrellevant when talking about anything but equipment, and therefor that info on my sign is gone.
sorry if i was a part of upsetting your morning-mood william!!!

JJA--thank you for offering to change lines (signitures) more frequently, but I wonder, *why* post them at all? It seems that, as they have little to do with most of your usually astute contributions, they are just there for *show*. And repetitions just simply become "ho-hum" after while.

Well,William, I am a moderator of a totally different BBS system dedicated to photographic pursuits, and I got incredibly bored with some of the various listings of someone's gear, which seemed more like bragging about how smart they were to buy such expensive cameras, lenses, etc. I thought something different might be a little more thought-provoking, that's all. A listing of all my clarinet stuff would probably put most folks to sleep in rapid order, even though I suffer from GAS far less than the average haunter of these pages.
