Interesting article "The Other Side of Cork" in the March/April issue of Saudi Aramco World magazine. (Incidentally, this is a great magazine, and free subscription available. Write to their circulation dept at PO Box 469008, Escondido, CA, 92046-9008. )

Could you tantalize us with a synopsis or just a statement to the major point of the article ?

Mainly about the nurturing , growing, and harvesting of the trees, plus uses of the bark. ( There is also an article on falconry, among others, in this issue.)

Apologies for being a bit off topic but this article reminded me of one of those magical moments that life can throw up. I was motoring up through Spain and came across a sign pointing to an off the road Bar Restaurante just tucked into a wooded area. It had outside tables, it was a cork tree wood and cork harvesting was taking place. I sat there in the dappled sunlight, gin and tonic in hand and watched these craftsmen removing great slabs of cork bark.
