Unmarked Leblanc A?

I recently got an A clarinet as a late birthday present from my boyfriend, a Leblanc A with no indication of its model number, serial number N 1163 A. I'm guessing it's a Noblet, judging by the N which suggests that.

I tried doing a search on this board but couldn't find anything about what this possibly might be.

BTW, I'm really enjoying a lot--no more orchestral sight-transposing and there's a number of pieces I have just got the music for that require an A clarinet, even some of my boyfriend's transcriptions and arrangements will now be a lot easier!

Noblet did/does have A models

Do you have some pics then we can verify it better by pictures than speculation ?

The "N" in the serial number could just be a letter prefix. Selmer and others have/had used it.

on the upper joint (and other joints hopefully) there should be an emblem
a Noblet will have the Noblet emblems on it
Leblanc a Leblanc emblem, etc

The N in the serial number i would ignore for now until the manufacturer is identified

What evidence is there that its a Leblanc-made cl? The # fits a series 9 Selmer, I believe. Measurements of the U J's bore, top and bottom, might help the I D. Don

Here's what I came up with. Weather it's right or wrong..? The following link..

using your serial # 1163A shows it to be a "Leblanc Alto Clarinet" model 7165. The serial #'s between 1041A and 1172A also shows it was manufactured in 1980.

I did a cross reference of model 7165 on the Leblanc web site. Here's the link.

Like I said before.. weather I'm right or wrong..?? These two links are the only cross ref's that make any sense if you use your S# 1163A.
