For those of us who follow the jazz scene, Lee Young, the brother of the great Lester Young, was also a major figure in the early history of jazz as a producer as well as playing on thousands of recording dates. His work with Norman Granz and the JATP series literally exposed an entire country to jazz.
He died yesterday at the age of 94.
The NY Times wrote a nice obituary outlining his entire life.
