I am now using Selmer Signature (Bb), RC(Bb) and RC(A). To improve the tone of RC(A), I am able to use the Signature barrel (645 Bb) but surprisingly not Chadash Barrel (650 Bb). Apparently, the top of the upper joint of my RC(A) is too wide for the Chadash (650 Bb).
Can someone tell me whether Chadash (650 A) is wider than (650 Bb) so it can fit into RC(A)?
Alternatively, is there any barrel good and fit for RC(A)?
Thanks.

I am looking at changing mouthpieces for my RC (currently B45 which is way too open (for classical playing).
What effect does the signature barrel have on the RC and have you tried it with the Bb, may be an alternative to switching mouthpiece set up?

Lindy,
About a year ago, I used B45dot for my signature (Bb) and RC(A). Initially, I was quite happy with them but later as you said B45dot is too open. Then, I have changed to use Vandoren M13 for RC(Bb & A) and M14 for Selmer Signature (Bb) and so far so good. According to Vandoren, the tip opening for B45, M14 and M13 are 119.5, 101 and 100.5 respectively. Perhaps, you should have a try. You may also try Gigliotti P which should have a similar facing to that of M14.
I have not tried the Signature barrel on RC(Bb) because the standard barrel for RC(Bb) is 660mm but the Signature barrel is only 645mm.

thanks for the advice.
I had been tempted to try a vandoren 5RV as I know a number of RC players who use that mouthpiece, do you think that would be too much of a leap from the B45?

Lindy,
I have also got 5RV but never used it and simply put it aside.
It is true that there is a leap from B45 to M13/M14 in terms of tip opening. According to Vandoren, the tip opening for 5RV is 106.5 somehow between B45 and M13/M14. However, in terms of facing, 5RV is a medium short while B45, M13/M14 are of longer types. Perhaps, I personally prefer longer facing that's why I do not like 5RV.
Further, I also notice that over 15 years ago, quite a lot of people around me (in Hong Kong) did play 5RV (or 5RV L or 2RV). But now, these players had changed to play others.
Therefore, I believe if possible, you should also try M13/M14 before deciding to adopt 5RV.

Yeh I want to try as many as possible. Unfortunately, living in the North of England it means a long drive for me to get to a stockist or costs alot in return mail, might just buy an M13/14 and a 5RV, might work out cheaper in the end!
