What are some of the summer music festivals that have good clarinet instructors and or good orchestral programs. Orchestral programs prefered here. Thanks

I taught years ago at the Saskatchewan School of the Arts-Fort San, Sask.- NE of Regina. Beautiful Qu'Apelle valley nearby. Excellent summer camp.

The International Festival-Institute at Round Top in Round Top, TX. It's a 6 week program that takes three clarinetists. The teachers currently are Hakan Rosengren and Ken Grant. Hakan usually teaches more, however, and he's been a more stable fixture at the festival. He is an incredible soloist, musician, and demanding teacher. Don't be put off by the fact that he is a soloist, since the festival is mostly geared around the orchestra. The woodwind coachings by experienced and enthusiastic faculty are phenomenal and they always have incredible conductors (each serves one week/one program).
It is very competitive because it is a smaller festival but the level of playing is outstanding. It is just below Tanglewood and Music Academy in my opinion. Many woodwind players in recent years have won jobs. There's also just something special about the place that is very hard to put into words for someone who hasn't been there.
It's also free and the food is nothing short of amazing. Seriously, if you don't work out like crazy you gain weight because it's so good.
I attended in 2006 and can honestly say that those six weeks had a major impact on my modest success.
