Our local best cl'ist asked to try out several of my collection. When I told him what I had, he became excited at the Woodwind G8, and is now playing it enthusiastically [and well] in our local symphony, I'm playing bass cl temporarily. I also have 2 Wells and 2 Bonades, but like my BG Benny Goodman [signature] for my LeBlanc sop.Bb. For bass cl and alto sax, my Selmer C*'s are my best, an old Olympia is best for my alto cl. Will be interested in other's oldies. Don

My teacher deals in Kaspar and Chedeville mouthpieces (mostly Kaspar) on top of other instruments and mouthpieces... I bought my Kaspars from him. My first one was an Ann Arbor refaced by Richard Hawkins for $150... My current mouthpiece is a Chicago refaced by Brad Behn that i paid $450 for. Typical price for an unrefaced Kaspar is $600 to $750 (from my teacher). I've seen some for more and less.
My Kaspar Cicero Eb mouthpiece i bought from a guy in Canada that had several untouched and Matson refaced Eb, Bb and Bass Kaspars. Paid $400 for it. He said it was one of his refaced ones, but my teacher doesn't think it has been touched.
The Frank L. Kaspar mouthpieces (Ann Arbor) don't go for near as much as the Cicero or Chicago.
Chedevilles can run from $175 to $300 or so depending on if it's a Henri or Charles. I believe Henri is the more desirable.

I prefer Kaspars over Chedevilles. The Ched's are brighter than i like... Lelandais mouthpieces are pretty good too. They're made from Chedeville blanks, i believe (maybe the other way around). But the Lelandais mouthpieces i've played are darker than Ched's. I don't think they run as high either. I have a friend who plays a Lelandais, i'll have to ask what she paid my teacher for it.

Clarke Fobes makes mouthpieces crafted after the Kaspars, and beautifully finished. See his papers on this sight.

I got a Cundy-Bettoney mouthpiece with an old clarinet. These are supposed to be anything from Lelandais' to Chedevilles. They're much sought after (I've had e-mail from several principals in local orchestras). It plays pretty well, its main best characteristic being a very nice clarity that I find in Chedevilles (I have a "new" Ched. also). I keep the Bettoney because I want to have one of the "legendary" mouthpieces on hand and will never be able to afford Kaspars (which I don't think I want anyway). But frankly any number of other things play well, depending on the reed and the blowing characteristics of the clarinet.

Possibly my top three mouthpieces (Greg Smith not included, he's in a category by himself) would be my Matson-refaced B45 (sorry, world, but it's a fabulous mpc.), my PLASTIC Chas. Bay "Equalizer" (too wonderful for words), and (the best) my $7 Vandoren 2RV (this even beats the Greg Smith). But it's all the horn and reed, too.

By the way, one of the most disappointing mpcs. I ever owned was a Clark Fobes 2L.

I bought a Kasper-cicero at 600$ at a shop in Tokyo.
And I bought a Kasper-Andeaober(spell?) in Motreal. The former is far better than the latter.
