I recently acquired a very nice Concerto II and have spent some quality time playing it side by side with my L7. Much to my surprise the Concerto has what I can only call a "flawless" scale from top to bottom, though the new ergo key works will take some getting use to. All this having been said. I’m now experimenting just a little with my setup and would like to hear from others on how they have setup their Concerto.

Mine's a Concerto (1), but I use a Greg Smith Chicago with Vandoren 3 1/2, and Bonade ligature.

I have a OPUS II, but have played on a Concerto II with my current setup mouthpiece Viotto B3 / Vandoren Traditional 3. Very nice instrument, have fun with it!
Bradley, I curious.. is the intonation still good with the Moennig (Buffet)barrel?
It would seem to me that the dimensions are different?

For several years now I have play a 5RV Lyre with my L7. Once the Concerto arrived I thought I would stick with that. Several weeks ago I purchase both a M13-88 and a M15 from our favorite unmentionable auction site; it was one of those deals you would kick yourself if you did not jump on it…so I jumped. So based on the suggestions here so far today I tried the M15 and was delightfully surprised; the Concerto sounded just a little brighter and had a little better control.
Please keep the suggestions coming and I’ll post my findings, I’ll try the M13 next.
For now I’ll stick with the same ligature and reed setup…..one change at a time (the old scientific method approach).

The dimensions are probably different. I was looking for a new barrel for sound reasons, and chose that Moennig over some Chadash and Backun. The overall pitch is a bit lower on it than on my Leblanc barrel of the same length, which is also a plus. I don't find too many disadvantages in the overall scale of the instrument so for me it was worth it. Never hurts to try, because I was skeptical of using Buffet barrels, but for now I'm satisfied.

My setup: Chicago Kaspar #14, Optimum lig-parallel rail insert, V12 3.5 or 4.0. My set of Concerto (vintage, early 90s) clarinets were selected at the Kenosha factory and "tweeked" extensively by Tom Ridenour, their designer. FWIW, he recommended using the stock barrel over my Moenig or Springer models--said he, "Didn't like them on the Leblanc products." Also, TR said that the Sonata, Concerto and Opus model clarinets (all identical accoustical cousins) were designed to use the same barrel on both A & Bb for ease in switching mouthpieces. This advantage may change if another makers barrel is used. I have sinced tried using Chadash barrels, but without success prefering the original stocks. Just me...........

The Leblanc Concerto clarinets are very nice..it seems I had a student who had great success with a M13LYre Vandoren mpc. with his set up. Keywork and feel are very nice with a nice feeling of centre in the throat lower clarinet notes. I think Leblanc clarinets are very good...I am less impressed with the Sonata as a student model(intermediate)..keywork was a bit clunky but certainly far superior to the Buffet E11 laminate clarinet.

Thank you all.....I have not gotten the chance to experiment with the M13 as of yet, but I did want to follow up on Branleys post about using a *M13 Lyre. The M13 I recently purchased was a M13-profile 88. So I went back and looked a Vandorens' web page I now see the M13 Lyre-profile 88. I have to ask, is the only way there are MFG? That is with the profile 88? Or did they MFG another version at some ago a Lyre version?
I went back and looked a little more closely at Vandorens' web page it appears that the M13 Lyre is a profile 88 and then there is the M13 profile 88, two different MP altogether.
