Well,I have found a new reed box that I acually have all five reeds playing. That was Five for Five. WOW! When was the last time that has happened? They were the new Rico Reserve. They may have come upon something GREAT! At least my first box was a winner! We will have to wait and see!

I totally agree, they are very good reeds made from very good cane. I’m not sure about five for five but I was able to at least use all five ,didn't have to throw any out. Make sure you break them in slowly, over four to five days. First day only a few seconds, second a few minutes and seal the bottom, third a little longer making slight adjustments, same fourth day, same the fifth, each day a few minutes longer and making slight adjustments as needed. Everyone has their own method but I find doing it somewhat this way works best for me. Make sure you keep your reeds humidity controlled during and after the process. Nothing makes cane change as much as going from wet to very dry, this is especially important in the winter when your house, apartment, school room, concert hall etc. are so dry. However you do it don’t just let them sit out in a dry atmosphere for longer then a few minutes, ever. As hard as it is to believe, I haven't had a single clarinet reed warp, that is not seal on the facing, since I've followed this method of humidity control in over twenty years, ever! ESP

PS. Did I say I never allow the bottom half of the reed, by the bark, to ever get wet? Hey, it works for me. Over twenty years.

I get about out of each box, sometimes 5 but usually 4. They are quite good.

Ed and I are artists for the company but we use them because they are great, not because we are paid millions to endorse them..... ;)

It is true that I am a Rico artist but not only do I not make millions to endorse them, I don't get paid anything at all, I just like them. ESP
