Some feel that the best clarinets were made during the so-called "golden age" from about #70xxx (1962) to about #125xxx (1971). They are adamant that the quality of materials used, the design and the workmanship have never been duplicated. Hans Moennig, even stopped selling clarinets after #125,000 because he did not like the changes that were made in the keywork.
Others say that today's Buffet clarinets, with more models and design choices, are better than any that were previously made and we are now in a new "golden age".
