I use an medium-open, short facing mouthpiece (Fobes Cicero 14), and I've found that Grand Concert Evolution (thick blank and short vamp) seem to work very well on it. However, with to cold weather arriving, I've recently been having issues with their strengths (I'm between 3 and 3.5, it seems), so I'm trying out other brands. My problem, though, is that I can't find any other thick blank reeds that have a short vamp. It seems that V12s and similar reeds are all made for long facing mouthpieces. As a point of reference, I tried Gonzalez regular cut and found them to be too thin. Does anybody know of a good thick blank reed with a short vamp? I greatly appreciate any help!
Edit: One more question: Are the Rico Reserve's vamp lengths similar to the Evolutions? I can't find any place that says how long they are.

Vandoren Black Master reeds are shorter than the standard Vandoren reeds. I use them exclusively. Worth a try.

Actually, I've already tried them. Unfortunately, I found the tips of them to be way too thin/fragile for me.

They are preatty price and didn't work for "me" but AW makes thick blanked short faced reeds for French mouthpieces. But be cerfull they are very stiff and I usually use #3.5(V-12,Glotin and Gonzalez #3.25) and # 3 was too stiff for me.
