Bass Clarinet Bore Shape...

Are all the current basses made with completely cylindrical bores, or are there some makes that still widen the bore before the lowest tenon (as in a French bore Bb/A clarinet)?

The only bass clarinets I've seen where the lower joint bore widens from the F#/C# tonehole are the old B&H Imperial basses from the '50s-'60s.

Chris- to your question, I sure don't know. My bass is a Selmer 30's model [Eb] [1960-70] and appears cylindrical. It has 2 !! pads for the F/C , for tuning-venting I believe, its a good one ! For the Shackleton conference, Al Rice delved into the early Bass Cl history with many pics of oldies. I'll look up his paper and pics over the weekend [too busy for an oldster]. Don
