 Roland Dorfler clarinets

If you take the train about 45 minutes out of Munich along the Isar you see some of the most beautiful country in Bavaria. Then at Wolfratshausen take the bus another 15 or 20 minutes and you come to Geretsried where Roland Dorfler (sorry I can't seem to find an o with an umlaut on this computer) has been making clarinets since 1951. His daughter now makes clarinets with him. I visited yesterday and had a very pleasant chat with Ms. Dorfler. They make B-flat, A , sometimes C and E-flat clarinets. On the day I visited there were no Boehm system clarinets in the shop but they do manufacture both Boehm and Oeler clarinets. Boehms run from 1400 to 1700 Euros, and they will do some interesting things, if you wish, such as a ring on the hole covered by the left hand ring finger, or a roller between the C/E-flat, F A-flat keys. I have not played the instruments but believe the price is reasonable (if they are good horns of course) I don't really intend this to be an advertisement but it is a manufacturer I had not heard of before. If you have interest, you can browse their website .
www.holyblasinstrumentenbau.de I couldn't get the English menu to work, but perhaps you'll have more luck.

Again, I apologiye if this sounds like an ad. It isn't meant to be. As I said, I haven't actually played the instruments. Oh, they are made from either Grenadilla or Cocobolo. I hope some of you find this interesting.

You're right about the email address of course. One of the hazards of switching back and forth between German and American computer keyboards is the switching of the y and z. Some people consider clarinets holy, but the web address tells us that they're "holz" wood.
