 A. Fontaine Clarinet

Someone recently gave me an old wooden clarinet that has A. Fontaine stamped on the bell. From what I understand A. Fontaine did not make clarinets they just sold them. I couldn't find who made them. Does anyone know anything more about these instruments?

I don't knew if they made all the clarinets branded "A. Fontaine", but Couesnon made at least some of them.

I agree with D S, I had an A Fontaine Bb, 17/6 which I played in our local, small, symphony. Not greatly impressed with it, I bought a lightly-used Leblanc L7 from a fine cl/sax player's small music store, much better! I saw an ad by Cousenon [1960's ?] which also mentioned the A F, implying it was their "student model". As I recall, mine had A F on the upper joint. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
