 The Planets...

i just recently started working towards an audition for the local youth orchestra, and the excerpts include the entire clarinet part for both mars and jupiter. i find these excerpts absolutely ridiculous.

my question doesn't have anything to do with details in technique, however, what puzzles me is... is there anyone out there that can cleanly play the darn things at rocket speeds? is it physically possible?

It is fast but certainly playable on a professional level. Add a few slurs if you need to; it's not that big a deal. Relax and play your best.
