Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a piece that would work well as a duet for double bass and clarinet. I've looked at most bassoon clarinet duets, but they don't work with the bass...
Any suggestions?
Preferably it would be either lyrical and gorgeous or technical and showy as it is for a double bass recital.

A bit corny, but how about arranging the Bach air from 3rd orchestral suite (aka Air on a G-string)? Quite an easy arrangement to do yourself. I arranged it for Bb and Bass clarinets and my wife and I played it at her brother's wedding. It went down a treat. Certainly fits the 'lyrical' part.

yeah, the Gould was performed by the principal bassist from the Vancouover Symph at ClarinetFest, and it was a great demo for the bass.
good for the clarinetist, too.

Hi Katie,
There is a duo by William Sydeman for clarinet/bass clarinet & double bass. You might be able to play the bass clarinet part on the clarinet, it's been a while since I've looked at it, and I can't remember if it can be done. It is a modern piece, composeed in 1967. I believe it is published by Peters.
