I know this pops up every once in a while, but here goes.
I have a pre-r13 buffet clarinet that I picked up at a garage sale, knowing full well what it was (roughly). It is completely crack/repair free, and has been padded and corked in the last 5 years and it even has the original case in *decent* condition. The price was right, so I bought it ($50).
Serial number is 30540, which I believe puts it as built in the early 1940's. If someone can get me a little bit closer, that'd be great, along with a rought estimate of value. I know these vary a lot, because most people don't want them, they want an r13. I'm perfectly happy with it, as I'm a sax player who rarely needs to play.
Also, are there any online resources besides relying on the good nature of forum posters to find this info? I can't even find a decent serial number chart.
