I might be asked to play in the pit for a group performing "They're Playing Our Song". I've played other shows for this group before, so I've experienced tech week and such. How challenging is the music for this particular show? Maybe a good scale to use would be to say that the Sound of Music was pretty easy to learn and that I never got totally comfortable with Into the Woods.

Reed 1: Flute, alto flute, clarinet, alto saxophone
Reed 2: Flute, alto flute, oboe, clarinet, tenor saxophone
Reed 3: Flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone
One of my FAVORITE shows to watch and to play. I still remember seeing the original cast (Robert Klein/Lucie Arnaz) on Broadway (1979 or 1980?)
I'm a sucker for nice love stories
When I played it a few years ago I played Reed I. The parts are all straight forward. Nice, catchy, upbeat tunes. A couple of love ballads with a good hook. A few exposed flute parts. Nothing technically challenging.
Neil Simon/Marvin Hamlisch/Carole Sager - For a contemporary show, the writing doesn't get much better ...GBK
