 Forum Format

The layout of this forum, for me, used to be always "flat view". Now if I click on a thread, it defaults to "threaded view", which I find a nuisance.

I assume this is a change that has been made to the forum.

Is there some way for a user to choose which default is used?

At the bottom of the threads list, click on "Collapse Threads".

At the bottom of the post if four clickable links, including "Flat View". Once you click on that you'll be back to flat view until you select threaded (again). Your choice is stored on a cookie on your computer.

If it changed on your suddenly it may be because they changed the default for all users. Maybe.

If the software here gets that drastic a change I'd announce it.

The normal culprit is a security change on people's computers, oftentimes without their even knowing it, during an upgrade.

It's easier to see what we're talking about by clicking the link (Threaded View or Flat View) on the page than it is to explain it.

Nice job, tictactux! Directly to the point, illustrative, self-referential, and it provides its own context. Sweet!

Note that threaded view is very useful when using "Search Woodwind.Org": It displays just the entry containing the search term, so you don't have to visually scan the entire flat view.
