Recs for a good book of solos/excercies? >>>
Author: Ashley91489

I need some good pieces for solo and ensemble. Here's what I'm looking for:

Not too difficult, something lyrical and pretty or fun versus technically challenging (but not super easy either).

Preferably a decent range, no very high notes.

1/2 to 1 page in length.

Any ideas of some good books to try?

Thanks!

If you have not considered this already, please look at

Concert and Contest Collection for Bb Clarinet with piano accompaniment. This is compiled and edited by Himie Voxman and is published by Rubank/Hal Leonard.

It's been around for a long time, and I would suspect many of the solos would be on your district's list of acceptable solos.

I think it offers a bit of everything for a lot of students. A mixture of easy-medium-hard to select from. I don't know your level, but I think it will challenge you and meet your needs. And most are pleasing to the ear to listen to. 1 page to 2 pages for most numbers.

Good luck!
