I have a clarinet in my possession which I can't seem to identify. It has on it "made in france" stamped on the two main body parts.
The emblem "Symphonie artiste" in a circle is on the top joint and the bell only.
There no other identification. Bore size is small like s LeBlanc Symphonie.
Sorry about the pic right now. I have it apart inspecting the body.

IMHO There's nothing else on it though that reminds me of a Leblanc - not the tenon rings, keywork, etc.
But Malerne makes sense to me.

It looks like the Martin Busine I once had.
Do the 'long' keys have pivot screws or rods? (mine had rods even for the E/B key)

AFAIK "Martin Busine", "Martin Frères" and "Martin (Elkhart)" are completely unrelated. The former two come from France or at least Europe. There's a bunch of other Martians out there (Martineaux comes to mind, they seem to share at least the case mfgr. with Busine).
This stencilling business can be puzzling...maybe a company in Elbonia mills the joints, then they send them to France to stamp "France" on them, next station is Taiwan for the bell ring, ...

The Malerne clarinets seen in the UK are usually seen in the Selmer Console, Sterling and Gold Seal, Buisson and Howarth guise - though not to be confused with the pro Howarth clarinets which are made by Howarth (and some people think the Selmer (London) Sterling clarinets are made by Selmer.

The hammer is being swung and swung hard.
This clarinet is made by SML. "Malerne" has Buffet like keys and made a lot of early Evettes for them.

was this SML Symphonie Artiste a pro, intermediate or entry level clarinet ?
It's needs a complete refurb and if it was a pro instrument I was thinking of getting the keywork/posts silverplated otherwise give it to a local school or something after bringing it up to snuff.

"Symphonie artiste" is a stencil name. SML haven't made any clarinets with this name. Judging from the pictures your clarinet is based on the later SML "5 star" model which was a student level clarinet. (the early SML "5 star" models were pretty good pro instruments). Check the connection of the left hand pinky keys. Is the linkage connected with a pin or just placed on the top of the left hand pinky keys?
