I bot an old wood Selmer USA 100 from our local store for a song, and have found it, after tweak-repair, to be my "darkest" toned cl !! Sel made a number of "intermediates" in the mid 1900's with C and #s as model designations. Others please chime in. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

I haven't actually played one of these, but Selmer USA wooden clarinets are generally considered to be good intermediate instruments that should be acceptable for high school band. The 220 is a very pretty clarinet with unstained grenadilla and gold plated keys. It is/was? probably the most expensive of the Selmer USA line.
Because the emphasis on this clarinet's appearance you might actually get more playability for the buck for a buffet E11.
If you can pick up a 220 at a good price it should be acceptable for high school.
Only my opinions - Have never actually played one.

This listing has brought up something that I have been wondering about. I have been trying to find a listing of the Selmer U.S. models and serial numbers similar to the info available on Selmer Paris clarinets (on the Woodwinds site and elsewhere) but have found nothing but a saxophone list. Did Selmer U.S. share the serial number progression with their saxophones? What were the prior & are the current models -- at least for the pro and upper intermediate models? Does anyone have a link to such information? Eu
