 Why the difference

When comparing mouthpiece specs, I find that there is a difference between the VanDoren chart, the Woodwind chart, and the chart in the International Music Suppliers catalog. As an example: For a VanDoren B-46, IMS indicates a facing of 37MM and a tip opening of 1.18. The VanDoren chart indicates a facing of 19.5 mm and a tip opening of 1.17. Woodwind indicates a facing of 44 mm and no tip opening. The same holds true for other model of VanDorens mouthpieces. Why should there be so wide a difference, particularly in the facing lengths.
