After asking for advice on this forum, then speaking with every harmony clarinet player I know, I decided to go with kid skin pads on my Leblanc alto clari. Sadly, my tech isn't interested in doing the work (funny, I always thought money was money and the customer is always right!) so I'm going to endeavor to do the job myself. The only problem is, I can't seem to find leather pads that are not made for the saxaphone, which have resonators and holes for screws, or bassoon, which generally are thicker than clarinet pads.
So, does anyone have a source for finding kid skin pads in the 15-28mm range? I'd prefer the white kid skins, but would go with the tan as well.

Bassoon pads will work fine on a Leblanc alto clarinet as they're the same thickness as skin pads - sax pads are too thick, but some bassoon pads can be very squishy which is what you don't want.
Measure the inside diameter of the pad cup for the pad sizes. For the perforated fingerplate (LH finger 1) use a cork pad with a hole cut in the centre rather than a leather pad.
I recommend CLG (Glotin) leather pads, either white (which would be my choice) or brown leather as these are firm - some leather pads can be too squishy making regulation difficult.
We use these pads on Howarth instruments and have had no trouble with them, and they last much longer and are easier to work with than skin pads.

I just compared a skin (bladder) and leather (kid skin) CLG clarinet pad - both are the same thickness, though the skin pad is shouldered.
If the leather pads are on the thin side, you can use more shellac in the pad cup to add height.

I have found that sometimes on Leblanc alto clarinet (I have one) regular clarinet pads (3mm thick?) work good for some of the keys, but saxophone pads (thicker) work better for some keys (instead of packing, etc). I don't know anywhere in the USA that will sell pads in singles other than www.musicmedic.com which have saxophone leather pads but not clarinet leather pads. Maybe someone else will know?
