 What is it?

Hi everyone. I was hoping someone out there can tell me what model clarinet I have. I won an auction on Ebay for an older wood Evette and I am restoring it right now. It came with a barrel that is about 1/2" shorter than the regular B flat clarinets and the case has a spot for it and the spot is real little too. The clarinet when assembled is about 1/2" shorter than the regular B flat clarinets. Except for the barrel, it looks just like any other B flat clarinet. Is this a B flat clarinet with just a shorter barrel or what? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Bonnie:

You might give the serial number and that could help some of the BB experts to determine what it is. Also, if you give the eBay item number, folks can look at the picture(s) on eBay and that, too, might aid in identification (one can still look at the item listing and photo(s) long after the sale has ended by entering the item # in the Advanced Search function).

Very good point, EGS, a pic worth 1000 words? It "sounds" like a shortened barrel, OR, is the upper joint longer than usual? If playable [even if for only open G] check its pitch vs a piano [F nat. for your G, or Bb for your C] . That should "cue" you. Luck, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

If the barrel is too short, get a Buffet E11 barrel for it.

It's probably a High Pitch clarinet.

Hi again. I finally got to read your emails and the ebay number is #280035588599 and the serial number is #H 5479. I got the clarinet overhauled and it sounds pretty much just like any other B flat clarinet to me, but my ears are untrained and I don't think you can tell anything from the picture in the Ebay ad but thanks for any help I can get.
