the R model is a mix of both the vintage Kaspar and Chedeville mouthpieces. It has a dark covered sound with an added brilliance that is really nice. This mouthpiece also allows you to play a considerable amount louder (like twice as loud) without distorting the pitch or the sound, which is so wonderful for orchestral playing. It is amazing!
