Surfing around I came upon the "Kammermusik Workshop." Seems to be a summer camp for adult woodwind players...clarinets etc.
Has anyone on the board had experience with them or can tell us anything about them. They seem a good thing going. Maybe next summer...for me?

That's run by Keith Bowen, one of the sponsors here, and has had (and will probably have again) one of my best friends, Forest Aten of the Dallas Opera, as one of the coaches. I haven't attended, but I have been privy to some of the responses from people who have attended, and to a person they've been positive.

D.L.,
I participated in Kammermusik in the summer of '04. It was five days of intensive coaching, playing, rehearsing, and meeting good wind players from all over the country. Kammermusik is well-organized, and I would highly recommend your participation in future workshops. Just be prepared to play your horn five or six hours daily! Fun deal, and I'm hopeful of attending the winter '07 master class.

I've attended the Winter Workshop the past two years and have had an absolute blast. We've rehearsed and prepared some great music--the Gran Paritta and Beethoven Octet just to name a few. More than that, its a great community of people who love to make beautiful music. I count the folks I've met there among my very dearest friends and can't wait to see them again next February. The accomodations at Sunrise Springs are very nice and the food is excellent. Rumor has it that the facility was once a nudist camp.
If you have a chance to go, by all means do so.
Brian
PS We need to get Keith to weigh in on the virtues of hot tubbing at Sunrise Springs.
