Found a 5yr old Pete fountain LeBlanc with silver keys, forked Eb Bb and articulated C# and G#.It has never been sold. It lives in Wash. State and I live in CA., so basically it would be mail order from a dealer $1300.
I currently play a student Le Blanc and was hoping to get some comments regarding the problems inherent in having the split fork and articulated keys. Am I going to have to change fingering or can I continue to play like I do now with my basic horn and only use the new keys as I grow ? I play for my own entertainment and am a mature student, with no teacher involved.
Does $1300 seem like a fair price ?
Any and all comments appreciated.

Michael:
I just purchased a used Pete Fountain off of ebay-paid just under a grand. Received the horn yesterday so far so good. It has no extra keys so the one you are looking at must be the 1611 it has a list price of 5300 and a wholesale price of 3250. $1300 would be a good deal.

Thanks Bob for that info. I'd certainly like to know if the "Xtra" keys are going to cause a change in basic fingering. By the way how does your horn sound in relation to what you normally play ?

You'll have to get used to the extra ring. It can sometimes be a problem when first playing an instrument with it. This is a large bore clarinet, so you will have to get used to that also. As far as fingerings go, you won't be able to play the long altissimo F fingering (the articulated G#/C# will stay down instead of opening). Otherwise, it should be a good performer. I enjoy playing my Selmer with the same setup as you describe. It did take me awhile to get used to that third ring on the UJ.

I have a Sonota and a Selmer 10 and i think they sound pretty much the same. For some reason the Fountain feels smaller. All of the keys are smooth and no hang ups. I think the sound is really mellow.
