I am well aware of the legendary Kaspar mouthpiece (I play a Chicago #14) and ligature, but have any of you ever seen or played a clarinet barrel worked on by Frank?

When I was in college, Frank Kaspar, the younger, did most of my repair work, sold me instruments then and later to my students. In the many years I had work done by him, he never mentioned nor offered any custom barrels to me. I had bought many instruments from him and they all came with the standard Buffet barrels. The only Chicago repairman making barrels at that time was Lee Springer.

Yes--I have several of Lee Springer's barrels, but I remember visiting Frank's home while in college (60's) and he gave me a barrel. I seem to remember him bringing it up from his basement, presumably after working on it and telling me something like, "here--this is what you need" (he would not elaborate on exactly "what" he did). This Buffet, 67mm barrel is quite similar in bore configuration to my Lee Springer V6 67mm but is slightly more responsive and more resonant in tone quality. As a Kaspar mouthpiece player, I have often wondered if this barrel was an unmarked Kaspar special. Just thought I would ask...............
That you for your input, Douglas--anyone else???
(PS--this barrel is NOT for sale or trade, so don't even think about it)
