Hello everyone...
I had my wisdom tooth surgery yesterday and seem to be recovering quite well. It ended up being a great doctor I chose becuase after looking at the x-rays he realised that the potential for nerve damage appeared very high in my bottom jaw. He ended up doing a CAT scan for free to determine exactly where the nerve was. This determined that the root is stradling the nerve, which essentially means if ANYTHING went wrong I'd perhaps never touch a clarinet again in my life becuase of lost feeling and numbness in my lower jaw and lip muscles. He was great and decided with me that because of my career aspirations it may be the best idea just to do the top two and leave the bottom ones until they are actually causing a problem, in which case they would do a 'crownectomy' to remove only the crown of the wisdom teeth, and leave the roots and my nerves alone.
What a great doctor... I love it when they are actually looking out for your best interests and not the money. Him being honest cost him about 1200 bucks for the bottom set. What a great guy.
Anyway I just thought I'd give an update for anyone who had replied to my first thread! Thanks!

These "statistics" are meaningless. How about the statistics for getting crushed in a car under Boston! Anytime one contemplates surgery involving one's head one should be prudent.

What?! What did the above post talk about... I don't know what's going on!
I should be able to play again in 10 days... but i'm going to give it at least 2 weeks to heal, just to be sure. I do have several performances in august though that I need to prepare for... hopefully I don't have to relearn everything.

Wisdom teeth something that almost everyone has to eventually deal with. After all is said and done, "it's for the best". Good luck with your recovery and better luck with your future clarinetting.

glad to hear it went ok, also couldnt' get my bottom wisdom removed for the same reason... i was never told they could do a crownectomey though, i am going to ask about this! thanks for the info...
