dislocated finger

I have an old injury that hasn't given me many problems at all until very recently. About 10 years ago I dislocated my pinky finger. Once it healed up, I eventually was able to play pain free except when playing the flute. It's the pinky finger of my right hand, and the near-constant use of the Eb key on the flute used to aggrivate the injury.

Now my finger hurts constantly when playing clarinet, which I do pretty regularly. The issue is obviously reaching for the 4 right hand pinky keys, which I often prefer over the left hand fingerings probably because I'm right handed. I haven't changed anything about the way I play to cause the problem to reappear out of nowhere.

OK all you (former) ball players who have dislocated their fingers--have you had pain emerge years after the injury? Any ideas of what I can try to be able to play with less or no pain?

You might have developped arthritis or the like. Do see a doctor as soon as possible before you're ruining your pinky joints.
