I have searched the archives and could not find any info on a Pedler 7 ring, 17 key clarinet. Does anyone on the forum have any knowledge of this instrument.

Hi R '52, Except for a Pedler alto and bass cl, the only sop. P's Ive seen were 17/6's. Almost all the [FR] major [and the US minor] makers, have made models with the 7th ring [most with that small "tuning" pad] for producing the "fork" Eb/Bb. This seems to be the first [simplest?] step toward the "Full Boehm" pro cls, the second is the "articulated C#/G#" [which others beside Pete F also prefer !], the 3rd [the most useful, IMHO] being the alternate Ab/Eb lever, the 4th being the low Eb [for transposition use] requiring a longer lower joint [about 1 1/2"]. I began cl life with a F B Penzel Mueller [20/7] , have had a Selmer-Paris, have a 19/7 Pruefer, an 18/7 Leblanc and a 17/7 [!!] Geo. Bundy, prob. of the time period of your Pedler. It makes a lot to choose from for all of us, doesn't it ?? Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
