someone a couple of weeks ago was looking for clarinet pads. Everyone suggested he/she have the job done by a pro. Anyhow ebay has 100 pads for sale #31906387. Check it out if interested. I'm not the one selling these items of self destruct.

I don't recommend that any one buy bulk pads off eBay. They probably are odd sizes that someone is trying to unload. You must have the correct size and correct thickness of pad to do the job correctly. Also, there are different bevels on pads for specific instruments. For example a Vito pad is designed specifically for that instruments pad cup. Trying to put one of these specifically beveled pads in another instrument is asking for trouble. You may get it to work, but that's about it.

I agree with the advice above. I've been learning to repair and restore old clarinets. I ordered pads in the most-needed sizes by the dozen, but also bought an assortment of 100 miscellaneous pads, so that I'd have the occasional oddball not worth buying in quantity. The assortment turned out to be very unbalanced, heavy on *large* pads. I've heard from other people that job-lots tend to be a whole lot of very few sizes -- probably whatever the company had in surplus, at the moment. I'll bet I've still got most of that pad assortment left, five years from now. Maybe I'll dump it on eBay... ;-)

I had pretty much the same experience, Lelia. Bought the hundred lot assortment a year ago for the same reason you did. Since then I've been ordering by the dozen the few sizes I most often use. I may someday find a use for the large ones. Door stops maybe(smile).

Who has a catalog where I can order pads by the dozen and in different sizes, thickness,etc. I've been buying them at the local music store, but this gets expensive when you have several clarinets to repad. Even more critical when you live out in the boonies like I do.

I buy double skin pads (new ones) from Ferree's by the dozen, Bob. You can also buy them by hundreds and save a lot of money if you do a lot of re-padding. Your local music store will charge a lot more than you'll pay ordering directly. The nice folks at Ferree's have always been very helpful to me. They also sell other tools and supplies you might find useful for servicing wind instruments.
