I've been using a vandoren B45 for many years and will be recieving a B40 (13) soon (haven't played it yet). On the vandoren mouthpiece chart the specs look just about the same for both. Has anyone played both of these pieces and can offer any comparrison? Thanks

I have experience with both of them and think they are very good mouthpieces. There a lot of similarities but some diffferences, which are unfortunately impossible for me to describe with words.
What I can tell you is the 13 series mouthpieces play flatter than the regular ones which for me was a bad thing. That would be good or bad for you depending on how you play and what clarinet you have.

I recently changed to a B40 (also 13, because I had some trouble always playing too sharp). Now this is solved and the sound is really improved.
I've tested B45 but they didn't bring me the nice sound the B40 has.
But, .. as said many times, 1 is not enough to try. You really should try to get your hand on some (out of 4 I tested 1 was really bad, so ..)
For me its clear B40 is the way to go. This is by the way the 'standard' mouthpiece in many music schools today over here.
