I'm almost positive I'm going this year. I will be my first year, but it should be great! My private teacher and her sister in law were trying out their new free reeds that they got from there during the community band rehearsals. I can't wait!

Hopefully I will be going again this year, since I will probably be going to school at OU next year.

clarinetgirl09: it's a great time and there are things better than free reeds there, lemme tell you! ;) hope to see you there

Since technically, if you are going for the "free" reeds... you are actually spending around $200 for your 4-5 "free reeds". lol. There is much more to the Symposium. Great soloists, recitals, masterclasses, clarinet choir, booths, and people who love to play the clarinet all in 1 place!

Is there anyone on here who is under the age of 18 and is planning on entering the Young Artist Competition? I am really interested in that (I do understand that it'll be tough, but I love Weber!).
And I wasn't planning on going just for the "free $200 reeds". I really am excited about all of the performances to be held, and I wish to learn (I do like to have opportunities to learn from pro players like that. To learn more about the clarinet and clarinet literature).

But is anyone going to do that?

I think I may actually stick a crowbar in my wallet and attend this one; looks like a nice line-up and I need more play toys. v/r Ken

I'm going! This will be my first time, so I'm really looking forward to it. Anybody also going to the ClarinetFest in Atlanta?

I didn't find the OU web page very useful. I can't read the "poster" for the event.

I need information about accommodations, cost, registration, ...

Contact the David Etheridge at OU for accurate information then, and mention to him that you are unable to read the PDF file.

I'm doing the Young Artist Competition. I hope that I'm accepted into finals! I've been working really hard on it and plan to spend plenty more hours on the piece. I was going to enter it last year, but I only found out about it 2 weeks before the tapes were due and my Rabaud wasn't very good by that point, so I didn't send in a tape after all. This is the last year I can enter, so wish me luck!

I'm hoping to go to Clarinetfest for the first time this year!

All high-schoolers: tell your private teachers to go listen to the lecture, or whatever kind of presentation it is, being given by Ms. Cindy Price-Svehla. She's my private teacher, and she is giving a talk or clinic about teaching high-school kids. Should be great.

See everyone in OK! (hopefully...)

Yes, Cindy is awesome. She's a great teacher (just look at all of what her students have achieved!), kind person, she's gotten me out of a sticky situation at State Solos/Ensembles when I lost my Concertino, and she's a Buffet Rep.
