Does anyone have a suggestion of a piece that rarely played. One that is impressive but one that would be a pleasure for a judge to hear in relief of not just another same old piece. That difficulty doesn't really matter, not something horribly difficult i.e. Nielsen. But still quite challenging. Thanks

Have a look at Gambaro's "Caprice" #20. There are two books of Gambaro that I know of. One is "12 Caprices," and the other is "20 Caprices". You want the last piece in
V. Gambaro
Vingt Caprices pour la Clarinette
publised by Alphonse Leduc, Edition Musicales, 175 Rue Saint-Honore' Paris
Number AL 20 942.
This is unaccompanied and uses the entire (normal) range of the clarinet from low E to altissimo A. The key signature is D-major.
Some alternate fingerings are handy for the altissimo F# and G.

So many possibilities... but here are few suggestions:
If you have the technique, the Bozza Bucolique will definitely impress.
If you want to draw the audience in with some beautifully written clarinet lines, then explore the (under rated and under performed) Burgmuller Duo for Klarinette und Klavier.
If you want to play an unaccompanied work which never fails to connect with the audience, try the Sutermeister Capriccio ...GBK

A great piece that does not get played enough is the John Ireland Fantasy Sonata. It's hard (not Nielsen) and it is beautiful! Le Tombeau de Ravel by Benjamin is fantastic. Another great piece that really does not get done much is the Hillandale Waltzes by Pianist Victor Babbin.
