We're going on a trip to Orlando next week for a music festival/competition. I was wondering if I should take my Buffet or my plastic clarinet. I live in Colorado so would the altitude and humidity differences hurt it or will it be okay? Ona sad note I just found out my band director is leaving us for another school. He's one of the best in the state if not country so we're all pretty unhappy about that. Anyway, have a good afternoon.

I had a similar decision to make many years ago, traveling from Pennsylvania to The Netherlands/Europe. I took the better horn, had no problems, and never regretted it. If it is a competition, do everything possible to look and sound your best.

I have a question and an answer for you.
My answer is I wouldn't take my wooden clarinet anywhere. My band went to Florida for spring break...Maybe it's even the same festival, anyways, not very many people took wooden instruments. I wouldn't worry as much about humidity as I would losing it or something.
My question is do you know what school he's leaving you for? I ask because I also live in Colorado and a new high school is opening up here. Just curious.

I should add, people that took wooden clarinets didn't have any problems.

He's going to Cherry Creek. =( The whole year(next year) is so up in the air now. I don't even want to think about marching band. At least Cherry Creek will have the best director anyone could ask for and maybe their music program will improve a bit.

This could turn out really great for your band! It did for mine. You just have to trust that your director will know who to pick. I'm sure everything will turn out fine. As my former director once said "It doesn't matter who is in front of the room, the conductor doesn't make the band, the band makes the band." And I live by that.
