I have recently fallen in love with the Dave Koz song Together Again, which you will find on his new album, The Dance. I would like to play it, the only problem is that I play Bb clarinet, not sax. Can anyone explain to me how to transpose the music from sax to Bb?

What sax? Soprano and Tenor are the same pitch as your clarinet. Alto and Bari are in the key of Eb, therefore when you see a written C on an alto part it really is sounding an Eb which is your F. Therefore you should transpose down a fifth to get the clarinet pitch from the alto parts.

Right, or up a 4th. Actually when I try to play alto szx parts on the clar, I just pretend by using sax fingerings on the clar-chalemeau notes. Throat and clarion is something else!! Don

If you have an alto sax music sheet and you know your clefs then read that part (alto sax) in your clarinet as if you were reading in C clef on the second line. Change then the key and you have it. I you have an tenor sax or clarinet part and you want to play it in an alto sax then read that part as if you were reading a bass clef in the third line.
