Hi
The best clarinet repairman in my country is pretty good (studied repair from Buffet and Selmer) but because of a mistake he made once (by lack of concentration I think) I prefer someone better.
I'm almost sure I'm going to the bass clarinet convention in Rotterdam and I was thinking that is a great place to get my clarinets fixed.
I need to fix both a Bb clarinet (Eaton International) and bass clarinet (Buffet to low C). There is a small chance I'll actually go to England too so Peter Eaton can repair my Bb but the chance is slim.
Who in Holland (preferably in Rotterdam, but other places are fine too) should I go to? I don't think the repairs will be that expensive anyway, so I'm looking for the best ones.
Thank you very much.

I did read somewhere of a person who successfully repaired a dike there years ago.

when I was last in Amsterdam I noticed a clarinet repairman who's shop was out by the water (beyond the Maritime Museum). I found his ad in the Amsterdam Conservatory newspaper, but never visited.

Hi everyone (especially the dutch)
In about a week the full program should be on the convention website so I'll know for sure if I'm going. I also found that Harry Spranaay is an experienced dutch bass clarinetistso I emailed him and he recommended Martin Schaap, who is close to Amsterdam.
Anyone else here knows him? If not, would you trsut Harry Spranaay with your eyes closed?
Thanks.

I phoned Harry Bok and he told me that during the convention there will be present Mr. S. Fontaine, who is a repairman for Selmer. He will be available to do repairs there.

"I phoned Harry Bok"
Hmmm.... Do you mean Henri Bok, or Harry Spranaay I guess it is obvious you mean Henri Bok.
"during the convention there will be present Mr. S. Fontaine, who is a repairman for Selmer. He will be available to do repairs there."
I'm not sure I want to give my Buffet bass clarinet and Eaton Bb clarinet to a Selmer repairman....
Thanks.

Hi,
I can really recommend Bert Wijnand as well, though I am sure the others mentioned are also very capable repairmen. I just never had the urge to look for someone else. Bert Wijnand also has a (dutch) website:
http://www.bertwijnand.nl/
but it has a phone number at least. Don't hesitate to go to another place then Rotterdam. With public transport, Bert Wijnand can be reached in little more than 30 minutes from Rotterdam Central Station. Amsterdam is a bit further away, but also shouldn't take too long.
Enjoy our country
Maarten

Hello
I bought tickets and I'm definitely going to the convention. I'm now trying to decide between Bert Wijnand and Martin Schaap. I've tried emailing both. Martin Schaap replied and seemed friendly, unfortunately Bert Wijnand's email came back as "failure notice" as if it doesn't work. Maybe his email address is wrong on the website?
OpusII maybe you have the correct email of Bert Wijnand? I would call but I think it is too early to call since I would be more obligated to the repair than if I email.
I see Bert Wijnand is recommended a lot on this forum (and by Henri Bok too) so I'm leaning towards him but his email is not working. Martin Schaap answered my email but I don't know anything about him really.
Maarten, OpusII, and lowclarinetman, I understand you three are from Holland. Maybe you can try to find some more information about Martin Schaap please, to see if others were happy with his repairs. All I have is Harry Spranaay's word, which might mean a lot or not, I don't know.
Thank you very much and best wishes.

Thanks OpussII, the other email worked and he already answered. Unfortunately Bert Wijnand will close for the last two weeks of October because he is moving the beginning of November, so he is no longer an option.
If you can also give me the email of Casper Van Der Spek I will also try him. Do you know anyone with good repairs from him?
I'm a little affraid to go to someone recommended by only person....
Maybe you can give me the address to that Dutch forum you told me about?
I might sound a little obsessive but I went to repairmen that were supposed to be very good only to be disapointed in the end....
Thanks.
