Site I found with Clarinet Spare (replacement) parts!!!
Author: DavidBlumberg
Date:   2004-10-03 19:09

http://www.windcraft.co.uk/windcraft/index.html

Under Woodwind Spares and navigate to Clarinet at the top of the page.

I haven't seen any sites before where you could actually (a non-repair pro) order spare Clarinet replacement keys, etc

Pretty cool!

note:
(I'm not affiliated w/them at all)

TKS, David, it looks very interesting/valuable for amateur repairers like me, possibly for our pros [ one bass cl key cost me $50 ordered from Selmer-Paris] . It looks like a 3-4 [blank] category/selection with E-Mail availability for ?model #, part specification etc. Has anyone had any dealings here? Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Whatever happened to the idea of "Miss Lonely Parts"? There was talk over a year ago about getting a site together where everyone could post the extra parts they have and either sell or trade...

That was more like 3 or 4 years ago ...

Not a sustainable business plan.

Cool site. Question: About how many pounds equal the U.S. dollar?

I've not used them for spare parts but have used them and their shop (Dawkes) for reeds, mouthpieces, instruments, repairs etc. for about 8 years. In that time the only problems I've ever had were them sending 1 box of alto reeds instead of Eb reeds and a minor problem about a mislabled barrel.

I've found their staff to be knowledgable, friendly and helpful and have recommended them to a number of people.

CJB

PS I have no connection with the company other than as a customer

Did anybody end up getting parts from this place yet?

I'll vouch for windcraft...outstanding service and very helpful.

I've been using them for years.

Like CJB, I haven't used Windcraft but I am a customer (walk-in, not mail order) of their sister company Dawkes. They are indeed good people to deal with, and their prices are very competitive.

They even stock Gonzalez - though I haven't tried those yet.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

Been a while since I posted this, but just had to use it again for a student who lost a key.

Good stuff for do-it-yourself repairs.

It is much cheaper to order from Buffet (CA) than Windcraft if you are located in the US.

I will heartily endorse Windcraft / Dawkes Music without any reservation whatsoever. Their Maidenhead shop is my local music shop and the best woodwind outlet I have ever discovered. I have never ordered parts from them, but have bought a Buffet RC Bb and LeBlanc Sonata Bb bass from them as well as having other instruments attended to by them. The best job they did for me was rebuild a 1924 Conn alto sax into the envy of my sax-playing friends. Their repair department is always busy, but can find time for 'walk-in' repairs - replacing pads etc.

I have no connection except as a very satisfied customer.

Just out of interest - are there any other Brits on this board within striking distance of Maidenhead?

Me. I work in Maidenhead. Oddly enough, I have just been shopping in Dawkes this lunchtime. They now stock Gonzalez in quarter strengths.

Board regular CJB and I play in a local band - come and join us. You can contact me via my website, though I might not pick up your message till the weekend.

Thanks for the invite David. I live in Reading but work in Slough. I am already playing in South Berks Concert Band. See http://www.southberksmusic.org.uk/
This keeps me busy enough!

We had a tenor sax player at a rehearsal one evening who came all the way from Taplow (to Clayton, north of Brighton), and she also worked for Windcraft- can't remember her name though, but she plays a lovely old Mk.6.

HAHAHA!

Well, it was a nice old Mk.6 - so she'll be forever known as 'the girl with the lovely old Mk.6'.

That's just like my bicycling experiences: the first thing you notice about a new rider is their bike's brand, model and looks, not the person's name or looks. And people sign their e-mail by things like "Chris - Red Cannondale". Makes it a lot easier to figure out who you're talking to...
