 Where to find Bb part
Author: Jessie

Okay, so... I went to mid state this year on bass, we played some really nice pieces. I got my cd a few days ago of the concert and fell in love all over again. Unfortunatly we had to give our music back like we always do... and I've been sitting in the living room with my cd all day trying to play along w/ the bass part... I can half remember it. Then I started playing th Bb part... but it's just not working... how in the world can I get the Bb clarinet part w/out buying th whole score and everything? The pieces were: "Overture to Raymond" (Thomas arr. Safranek), "Shenandoah" (Ticheli), "Courtly Airs and Dances" (Nelson), "The Invincible Egale" (Sousa), and "Russian Christmas Music" (Reed). I don't even know where to start looking for the Bb part of any of these pieces! :o(

Thanks,
Jessie

The best possibility is to check a local music program's library...if they have it, you could probably borrow the score and copy out the parts you want, or you might even be able to borrow just the parts you'd like. Hope that helps!

Ditto on the above suggestions...

What did you think of Ticheli's Shenandoah? I'm playing it this semester at Montclair State University. I think it's an incredible piece. The flute trio is impressive. It's also nice to be the only bass voice (bass clar) on the last fermata.

Jessie,
I am a high school band director as well as clarinet instructor at Lee College in Baytown, Texas and play in the Baytown Symphony Orchestra. I have "The Invincible Eagle" in my school's music library. It is the Harold Gore arrangement, but I think the clarinet part is the same as the original. I do not know what arangement you played. We also played an orchestra arrangement in the Baytown Symphony. The band one is better. E-mail me your address and I will send one to you.
