Hi, I'm in need of a lower joint three ring bridge key for a 1930 Selmer Paris "A" clarinet. Can someone help ?

Hi Donald,
Coincidentally, I had one of these old Selmers in "A" about a year ago and the lower joint ring keys were totally messed up. They had been bent, and then someone had done a lousy job bending them back into shape to the point that the rings were about to break off. It is pretty impossible to find a replacement part that will match exactly, so what I did was I had my local woodwind repair guy make a new piece for it.
He went through his stash of parts and found one that was somehwat close and then modified it to fit. When he was done you would never have known it was not the original part. I imagine there are a few techs on this board who are capable of doing this for you.

That's what I would do, have done in the past; just make a part (actually "modify" an existing one) to suit the need. Takes a fair amount of time but worth the effort when all else fails.

Hi Sue, I was hopeful someone might have the right one for a simple replacement...but I've been looking through my stock of junk clarinets and will modify a Bb key if I have to. I have a couple old "A" clarinets but none so far gone that I'm willing to part them out. Incidentally...There's a D Noblet on the way to Oregon.
Thanks, Donald
