I'm have troube getting notes above C7. I can hear the note, but there's an undertone, so it sounds like a multiphonic. Is there anyway I can fix this?

C7??

For the VERY FEW times you will ever see a note above C7, why even spend the time worrying about it?

I've played the clarinet professionally for 40+ years and probably can count the number times I've had to go to C7 or above, on one hand.

It is better to spend the time learning to play the high notes just below C7, accurately and in pitch...GBK

Yup, C7--five ledger lines and a space above the treble staff. I only use notes "up there" when playing the Artie Shaw CONCERTO FOR CLARINET, an occassional jazz solo or simply if I wish to get back at my neighbor for mowing his lawn at 6am on a Sunday morning (under our bedroom window).

BTW, my chair partner in Muni Band can go a fifth above that--and does it, mainly, to irritate the piccolo players. He uses a stiff reed and has endurance problems if he neglects regular practice.

Don't you need an oxygen mask at that altitude?

I never intend to go that high, but surely, a large inhalation of helium would help!

hee hee hee, irritating piccolo players,
actually we just got a new and excellent picc player(and a big guy to boot) for the last couple of weeks in our community orchestra, it was fun to have someone matching notes with me up there. Its the oboe player I would like to annoy though..

Piccolo players indeed ... it's not the most attractive part of the clarinet's range.

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
