 Gonzalez/Mozart reed cuts
Author: presto214

As you all may know, the Mozart and the FOF are similar looking cuts, but it seems like the the cut doesn't run very far down the reed as opposed to Vandorens. I was wondering does this make them harder to play with long facing mouthpieces? Or does that matter at all concering the cut of the reed and the facing length of the mouthpiece?

AAHHH!

The length of the scrape should match the window opening of your mouthpiece.

Gonzalez FOF and Mozart reeds have the same length scrape, but the profiles and tip thicknesses are different.

The Gonzalez Regular Cut reeds have a scrape that starts higher on the blank and are built on a different template. They use a thinner blank and have a tip thickness which is the same as the FOF reeds...GBK
