I've been considering upgrading my barrel to either a Chadash or Moennig, but I hesitate because of the cost. I have a good instrument and mouthpiece. I was just wondering, is it worth the investment to purchase one?

Barrels are like women and snowflakes........no two are alike.
Allegedly, the MOENIG gives a slightly darker sound than the CHADASH. Both have a reverse taper.
You may also consider trying a CLARK FOBES bbl.
All three makers are available through wwbw and muncy (grenadilla wood).
Clark's Bb bbls have 3 tapers and his A is a straight taper.
I've 2 Bb and an A that Clark made for me in Rosewood. Others have tried mine and bought their own (:o).

Of course.... as long as you can return them for a refund.
Also I would not get the Fobes barrels because they don't have metal rings. I now practice completely on plastic barrels, and only play the wooden ones in concerts to avoid cracking (had 3 barrels cracked before).

I'd have to also put in a plug for The Doctor's Power Barrel. I'm using one on my personal instrument and have gotten them for several members of the clarinet section in my community band. Great focus and tone.
And, yes, it is worth it to get a better barrel. It makes a huge difference in tone quality and intonation.

I have lots of different barrels, but I keep coming back to the standard buffet barrels shipped with the horns. On my instruments, the standard barrels have more ring in the sound and better tuning across the break.

Does the shape change just the tone? Say, hourglass or egg. My barrel I think is shorter, but for some reason my E11 starts flat (while my cheap little selmer bundy starts sharp). And what is the difference in tone with the different barrels? I have a Fobes mouthpiece and am very happy with it, btw. He is a friend of my uncle, so thankfully I went to him rather than just buy any old mouthpiece.

The shape would also affect the amount of backpressure you get (resistance in the barrel).
