I was wondering if anyone ahs any information on the Greg Smith type moutpieces. My tone quality has been suffering and a suggestion was made that these mouthpieces could greatly improve it. Any info at all would be appreciated!

He is one of sponcers for this BBS! You can find his homepage URL at the sponcer page.

He makes two types: Chedevill style and Kasper Style.
You can choose tip opening for Chedeville style MPs.
You can select two bore style:parallel and angled.

Ordinaryily he uses Zinnger blanks but you can select other materials such as treated rosewood.

Besides, you can buy a specially selected Chadash barrel with the mouthpiece reamered by himself.

I use his Kasper style mouthpiece and Chadash 'A' barrel with my Selmer 10SII*. I am quite comfortable.By the way my Kasper mouthpiece serial number is #100. Very happy number.

I currently have 3 mouthpieces from Greg Smith that I am trying to decide between. He has a website, but when I emailed him, I got instructions to call him. He called me back promptly, and was very helpful with assessing my current setup and making suggestions regarding mouthpiece and barrel. I just have to make up my mind now. But anyway, if you're interested, check with him, and let him help you through it.

Might I also suggest a Robert Borbeck. He now lives in Las Vegas but has a web site. I have been playing his mps for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. -ss-

I'm glad to see your post here. Hope you follow through. Don't forget about working with long tones and using the register key to get the 12th above. That's very important. Especially after seeing the short barrel.

Let us know what happens. I'd like to know if you get a successful resolution to your tone focus and what cures it.

Keep at it. Good luck, cj.

Richard Hawkins also makes excellant mps using the Zinner blank. Price is reasonable, also.
