Has anyone on this board auditioned for the music school at Central Michigan University? And even if you haven't: if you mess up one scale, does that detract major points from the final result?

Hello clarispark,
I have auditioned at CMU but not to study there. This was for some honors thing. In my opinion they have a pretty decent music department, but the clarinet professor I met wasn't up to my standards. He was very shy and seemed that if you were playing something wrong he'd tell you it was "ok". He was nice though! Just thought I'd throw in my two words.

It depends on their standards. I messed up a simple major scale (and I know them well, and wasn't nervous...must have been a brain fart...) and the judges at college I was auditioning at didn't say anything about it. They told me after I auditioned that I really should meet their clarinet teacher and see if I could schedule a lesson with her (to kind of feel her out...see if I should take lessons with her through the school...), so, sounds like it didn't detract too much!

Would have replied sooner, but the school network crashed for a few days and then my home computer decided to melt down.
Thanks for the help...thought I'd let you all know that I should find out whether or not I got in sometime in the next week or two.
