In the summer of 1969 between my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I bought a Selmer Series 10 in an effort to be a better player. I have babied that horn for the last 32 1/2 years, and it still plays great. I paid almost $500 for it then, and I would like to know what it is worth now, and "grade" of clarinet I have. I remember what the salesman said and what the magazine article said, but now I want the truth. I don't want to get rid of it, because I still play and I haven't found any I like better. I'm just curious.

Well, the 10 is still being made (I have a 10G, and there's the 10S - both going strong). My clarinet new was $1200 5 years ago; I'd make a guess that if yours is in fine shape you'd be able to get $400-$600 for it.
The Selmers tend to be a bit "brighter" than other clarinets, and the older wide bore clarinets had a less "focused" sound than what is desired today - but wide bores make lipping notes easier.

I believe that the Wichita Band site may have some for sale with some helpful info, others also. Don

I had 10S,10G,RC,RC-Prestige,and now 10SII.
As written in Selmer's URL,10S or 10SII have a 0.563" bore whereas 10G, or other Buffets have 0.574".
I liked 10S but I like 10SII bettter. They made a big improvement.10SII has very focused tones and good projections. I do not think it has bright tones rather I like its velvet tones. I recommend to try 10SII.
