Bass Clarinet de Mysterie!!

Greetings oh Lovers of Singing Holy Black Tubes~
(holy as holes AND sacred!!)

I have a mystery bass clarinet I am hoping for some help identifying, and for advice as to whether I should have a lot of work done that it needs to become playable, or have the relatively small ammount of work done that the other bass I have needs. (A Linton Malerne)

The bass in question just says made in France, does have a double octave vent, (one on the neck, one on the body) but has no brand on it at all, and needs a lot of work. Main issues are it's missing a rod that holds the 3 upper keys for the lower joint, one of the keys has been oddly cut around the rim of the pad cup and will need repair, There is a 3 1/2" crack that is through the body but not open in the very top of the upper section. Needs full overhaul.

I can send photos if anyone is willing to take a look for the sake of i.d.

The Linton has mostly fresh pads and plays fairly well as is, but I don't think from what I've read here is as nice an instrument.

Dave Spieg. is likely your best source of info, I have seen a few OLD basses and have a couple like some other semi-collectors here. Not having a "maker's" [or seller's] name, how about a ser #?, it could be a non-stencilled Fr made horn by any number of small makers, of which Malerne seems to be one of the larger ones. Noblet frequently put Made in Fr on cls, like my Stubbins model [by Noblet]. I recall an Alto cl with DRK [unusual] made by P----, will "dig" for the name. Al Rice et al, HELP ! Don

My SML clarinet (identified by John Butler) just says France, but has serial #. I don't know why there is no brand mark or if SML ever made Bass clarinets. But this seems somewhat common, or at least I have seen a few "France" clarinets.
